Introduction Room

Zhejiang province has a long history in Chinese literature. The most ancient legend about Wuzhen can be traced back to the Liang Dynasty with its prince compiling the Zhaoming Analects about one thousand four hundred years ago. The stele “Reading Spot of Prince Zhaoming and Minister Shen” we see today in Xizha was made during the Ming Dynasty.

In the beginning of the 20th century, Mr. Mao Dun from Wuzhen was known to all. Then Mr. Mu Xin moved back to his hometown Wuzhen in the new century, his heavenly library was solely the study of Mao Dun.

To review Mu Xin’s life, we set up the exhibit in three parts:

1. Photos, relics and manuscripts, which are displayed in the south wall show window.

2. An imitation of Mu Xin’s living room in the corner of the North-West wall.

3. Three documentary video series about Mu Xin are played on nine LED screens.
